About Thanda Choir
Thanda Choir, founded in 2023 in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, South Africa, offers youth a creative escape and growth opportunity through music. Created to address the challenges of township life, it serves as a safe haven where teenagers can develop their musical talents, leadership skills, and potential career paths in the arts. The choir combines traditional African sounds with contemporary styles, creating music that resonates locally and internationally, attracting a diverse audience, including a 30% following from the U.S. Thanda Choir’s mission is to foster community pride, break cycles of hardship, and uplift Khayelitsha’s narrative by showcasing its vibrant youth and culture through performances that inspire and connect across borders.
